Inserting Comments
To insert a comment in excel, just follow these steps.
Step 1: Select the cell that would contain your comment. Ideally this should be the affected cell or a cell within the affected range.
Step 2: Right click and click on new comment
Step 3: Type in your comment and post by clicking the green button.
Result: Excel displays a purple indicator in the top right corner of the cell to notify users that there is a comment contained therein.
Viewing & Editing a comment
Viewing comments: To view a comment, just hover over the cell with the purple indicator
Editing comments: To edit a comment, hover over the cell just like in the viewing a comments section. When this is done, the comment comes on full display. Now hover over the comment itself and an edit link would appear, click on it.
Now update the comment in the edit box and hit save when you are done
Showing all Comments in a Worksheet
To view all comments in a worksheet simply follow the step below
Step 1: Navigate to the review tab and click on show comments in the comment group.
Result: Excel shows all comments in the spreadsheet in the comment pane
When in the comment pane, you can also edit comments in the comment pane rather than again going through the process detailed under viewing and Editing comments
Deleting a Comment
To delete a comment, follow these simple steps.
Step 1: Select the cell with the comment
Step 2: Right click and click delete comment
